Kristi's Action Research: Rich Description of Workplace -1

My Action Research will be conducted at CSU Channel Islands (CI) in Camarillo, California. CI is the 23rd (youngest) campus within the California State University system and despite being a young campus is still rich in tradition. As of Fall 2013,  there were about 5,100 students attending and approximately 130 tenure faculty and at least 325 lecturers. I am a part of the Teaching & Learning Innovation team that has partnered with Academic Information Technology (AIT) to manage chancellor related initiatives in blended and online learning; examples include: the Blended Learning Preparation Program (BLPP), cohorts of ten faculty learn about course design, technologies and pedagogy regarding teaching in a blended learning environment; the Enhancing Teaching & Learning Program which focuses on creating & evaluating learning experiences, the Promising Course Redesign Initiative in which participants create ePortfolios documenting their redesign efforts that show promise of improving student success, and the Quality Assurance Initiative. Our team isn't the biggest but continues to change and evolve to offer continued support for the prospective increased growth over the next five years.
The semester begins tomorrow. Here's to another year of adventures!!
